ABOUT TRAEE
(Turkish Association for Energy Economics)
The Turkish Association for Energy Economics (TRAEE) was established on February 15, 2005, in Istanbul under the leadership of distinguished academics from various universities in Turkey who have made notable contributions to the field of energy economics. While TRAEE initially began with an academic foundation, its long-term vision has been to expand by attracting members from all segments of the energy sector, thereby evolving into an influential civil society organization.
TRAEE operates on an international scale and aims to connect the Turkish energy sector with the global community. The association strives to reach key decision-makers in the energy field and foster synergy within policy-making processes. In addition, TRAEE provides its members with access to the resources and opportunities offered by the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), which has over 4,500 members in more than 100 countries.
In 2007, following an application to the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), TRAEE became the first institution from Turkey accredited under the “Research Institutions” category, enabling participation in the Conferences of the Parties (COP).
TRAEE has organized three international conferences in Turkey:
-
31st IAEE International Conference: Istanbul, 2008
-
38th IAEE International Conference: Antalya, 2015
-
45th IAEE International Conference: Istanbul, 2024
The IAEE conferences held in Turkey have long been recognized for their rich content, pioneering scientific presentations, timely panel discussions, technical site visits, and engaging social programs. With a participant profile that reflects strong synergy among academia, the private sector, and public institutions, these events have played a significant role in securing future IAEE events for Turkey.
The next IAEE international event, the IAEE Middle East & Central Asia Conference, will be held in Antalya on December 4–6, 2025.
